  • In between the moments of still sleeping and wakefulness, somehow I found you.

I've come to realize that the best things can be found not hidden in deep dark caves or within fortresses and cleverly disguised safes, but rather in plain sight, and not hidden at all.  Buried treasures only hold onto their novelty for so long before the mystique and allure wear off and you're just left frustrated and usually disappointed if you do find it after building it up in your mind for so long in search of a seemingly intangible figure of perfection.

This is not to say that you don't have to work to find it, because we are usually our own worst enemy in the first place, blurring our vision just to give ourselves the sense of being lost and wanting to be found.  Searching for the right someone isn't easy. The road isn't smooth and paved with gold nor should you expect it to be. So it makes sense that some will get tired and sit by the side of the road, thumb sticking out, heart on the end of their sleeve, waiting to get hitched rather than keep walking alone, while each step wears their soul just a little bit thinner.

To those I say don't lose faith and that it is okay to feel disheartened at times.  Through trial and error we all learn what works and what clearly does not. A few will get lucky and find a kind soul to pick them up, but don't count on it.  Stay still too long and the road not only gets more difficult but time flashes by quicker with nothing to show for it.  We must learn to pick ourselves up and keep walking forward even when we feel like we just want to turn back and run to the comfort of more worn in roads where we have already been.

Only through perseverance past the the initial stage of eager exploration, middle stage where realization sets in that we are by ourselves but still searching, and the end knowing that only alone will we find the deepest truths about ourselves and what we are truly looking for, can we finally say we deserve to find it once we reach the end of that road and begin the true path of finding someone whose path has also come to a crossroads with yours.

This path is finite; knowing that makes it easier to keep going & take in what I find along the way.

Ever notice how much easier it is to walk and how much more introspective you can be while drunk?

    yay!

I'm guessing you have the ability to have patience and found inner peace in yourself b/c you practice buddhism. Moving on and not trying relive past is a something many of us struggle with because it seems like the easy way out versus taking a chance on a different future. I do have many books that talk about subjects like this (my current favorite would have to be Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now) because i'm a huge psychology freak. These books aren't supposed to automatically change someone for the better though. Finding true happiness all comes down to changing the way we think and embracing the future :)
